Teaching and Learning Our approach to teaching and learning is very much informed by our Christian Ethos. Learning & Faith People of faith are engaged on a search for meaning. The Bible describes this learning process as a journey of faith and a history of the relationship between God and his people. At St Mary and All Saints we aim to: Help children to engage with some of life’s big questions, to be able to ask their own questions and to direct their own learning. Promote good relationships as an essential ingredient for learning and teaching. Jesus the Teacher We use Jesus’ example of a listening, questioning teacher who allows his pupils to make mistakes and learn from them as a model of good teaching. Like Jesus we aim to: Place children at the centre of all we do, seeing our teaching from the children’s perspective. (Matthew 18:2). Set high expectations for learners and to be prepared to go out of our way to help those most in need. ‘Going the extra mile’ (after Matthew 5:41).
